Best points to Photograph in the Faroe Islands - Vagar

The Faroe Islands are an incredible place nestled in the North Atlantic where you can see incredible landscapes and make stunning trails. The name literally means Isle of Sheep, and there are more sheep inhabiting the islands than humans. It may seem difficult to get there because it is a very remote place, but in fact all you need to do is just take a flight from Iceland, or from Norway there in just over an hour.

Atlantic Airways makes the journey on certain days of the week, depending on where you go. So it's good to stay tuned to plan around the days the flight arrives and leaves the island, as the airport is so small and peaceful that it seems exclusive to you! There are other cities in Europe that also take the direct route in some special seasons: London, Paris, Edinburgh and even Barcelona.

Let's know a little more about the Islands?

Vagar is the first island that you will see and visit at the small Faroe airport. But, it doesn't stop there: Vagar is home to many attractions and wonderful photographs. Don't forget to rent a car as soon as you arrive, as this will be your cheapest and most practical means of transportation around the islands. The places that stand out the most here are: The Trælanípa trail, further south; The view of Gasadalur to the north; And, next to Sandavagur, the trail and the view of the "witch's finger" which is an incredible rock close to the slopes of the island.

Gasadalur is the most famous point in the Faroe Islands where you can see the Mulafossur waterfall and its small village in an incredible view of the cliffs and birds that rise and fall in the wind currents. It is very easy to access and a must see!

Now let's talk about the Trælanípa trail. This path will take you to the most amazing slopes of the Faroe Islands, where a look down is enough to leave vertigo even in the most prepared. If you dare, climb the cliffs to photograph Leitisvatn from above, in an incredible view that mixes the sea with the lake.

Finally, the Witch's Finger. You can choose to hike to this incredible rock formation or take pictures from a distance, if you have a powerful lens. What matters here is to be able to see in detail this rock that looks small from a distance, but is much bigger than you think.

If you choose the island of Vagar as a base, stay in Sandavagur for proximity and flexibility with food and accommodation. The availability of markets and gas stations is good here, even with small town vibes.

On my trip I did the Trælanípa trail early and traveled the island to Gasadalur afterwards.

I see you next time! Bye, bye!
